A single beam of light slipped through and found this leaf. Caladiums grow in the shade of the forest floor, where sunlight doesn't pour in. It arrives in small, moving patches. For a moment, this one lit up every pink vein and a whole scatter of white speckles, like stars across a green sky.

Caladiums come in more than a thousand named varieties, with speckles, splashes, and veins in almost every pattern you can imagine, and each leaf rises straight from a tuber hidden in the soil. This is one of three caladium prints in the shop, alongside Heartwell and Becoming, each showing a different side of the same leafy family.

This moment of noticing was one of exploring my neighbors land. They have a wide range of plants on their property, tended to with love and care. Though this image had a slightly different feel than my others, something about it consistently catches my eye. I can’t quite name the reason why, but when nature calls, I don’t question, I follow.

What we protect begins with what we notice. My noticing leads to The Wild Land Project.
